Notes on SRD adaptation progress
Scrivination-the-standalone-project is done! Complete! Playable! (Hoo boy, does that feel nice; I have a number of loose threads lingering on my itch page - but this isn't one.)
As I was laying out the rules, I realised I was explicitly designing a system meant to be adapted by others - perhaps not just at individual tables, but also by additional publications that take its broad, flexible rules and pare down. The current edition (unnumbered file, but 1.0) doesn't include appropriate licensing information for how to do that.
My goals for the 1.1 "SRD edition" currently in editing are:
- Clarify and improve the standalone rules where possible
- Improve accessibility notes
- Add an additional document with the updated rules, licensing info for adaptations (probably a CC variant), and notes for designers with suggested tweaks
- Create a author-made SRD application
There are a number of places in 1.0 where I hint at ways to alter gameplay without really elaborating why I make those suggestions. It's a cute pastiche for players to leave it at "try it and find out," but it's not optimal for designers picking up ideas to expand on.
I'd like to add some more spot illustrations, since I'm a sucker for those and I'm sure you are too, but we'll see what I have time for.
